Fire Station #82 was built using Proposition F, Fire Bond funds. Phase 1 of this project was the construction of a brand new 42,000 sq. ft., 3-story structural steel building with a vegetated roof and underground parking- the first of its kind in Los Angeles.
On the ground floor are three heavy apparatus bays, three paramedic bays, and apparatus support spaces. The building offers many features, including administrative offices, a conference room, living quarters for firemen, a kitchen, dining room, day room, dormitories, restrooms and locker rooms, exercise rooms, and a handball court.
Phase 2 of the project consisted of remodeling the existing historic fire station and constructing a new 10,435 sq. ft., 2-story annex building.
This Fire Station is home to the LAFD West Bureau, which oversees three battalions. The project received LEED™ Gold certification for sustainable building, and today is the largest Fire Station in California.
